about
This single follows the band’s 2022 rarities release, Demos and C-Sides, reissues of their seminal records Neva Dinova (2001), The Hate Yourself Change (2005), and You May Already Be Dreaming (2008), and April’s single “Something’s Out There.”
Neva Dinova’s Jake Bellows says the song is “a thought about the feeling of an impending change. Not quite understanding why you’re on the outside of your own life.”
Neva Dinova’s music has resounded throughout their 30-year tenure as they developed their sound with a remarkable lineup of collaborators in their ranks. Megan Siebe, Roger Lewis, and Jake Bellows carry on the legacy as a 3-piece band that works together seamlessly—like a superhuman centipede.
The band recently returned to touring after 15 years to join their longtime friends, Cursive, on a cross-country tour in the spring. Neva Dinova is currently writing and recording their 4th LP with new music and more touring coming in 2024.
lyrics
On the outside
A faded man
But on the inside
I’m making plans
But I get nervous
I make mistakes
I never listen
And I’m always in the way
I’m on the outside looking in
I’m on the outside looking in
There ain’t no sinners
There ain’t no saints
There’s only everyone
Who suffers in their ways
Profound discomfort
Ecstatic bliss
There’s something coming
But we don’t know what it is
We’re on the outside looking in
We’re on the outside looking in
Want to get inside
Oh
We’ve never seen another way
I thought of something new
I’m joining hands with you
I want to be this way.

Supermoon is a great project and the mix of Morgan and Jake’s voices work so well together. With folk rock and country elements i find myself humming these tunes all day. I am a huge fan of the clever lyrics and the hooks. It’s lovingly put together and Jake shines just as much Morgan. Especially on Prepared to Lose, the vulnerability is palpable but also so relatable. Jonathan London
Just saw them performing much of this album on their west coast tour. San Diego and Pioneertown dates. Didn’t know any of them lol. I’m all about their old shit but I like this. Playing it more and more. Appreciate the evolution of one of my favorite bands in the world since middle school! 🖤 Red
